Notes | According to Jack Sloan's blog (see below) 'In 1994 John Dixon Hunt had reported the stiles were, “languishing in storage”. The executor of Ian Hamilton Finlay's estate has confirmed (September 2022) that fate of this piece is unknown, and likely to remain so. An excellent blog post by Jack Sloan describes the installation in some detail, and the author's involvement with the project. |

Well done for recording all this from the Garden Festival. So much was unfortunately needlessly lost. Working at Little Sparta at the time, I drew the first proposals for this work for Ian and Sue Finlay. I’ve included photographs, thoughts on its meaning(s), sources and appreciation in this piece.
